FRIENDS IN NEED provides on-site primary care and dental care as well as referrals to other volunteer physicians and professionals for specialized care. We serve the uninsured and under-insured, in Upper East TN and SouthweST Virginia.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

To become a patient you will need to apply! You can either apply here online (quickest way) or come by our office to pick up a paper application. Here on our website, you either submit a electronic application completely online or print one off and bring it in person! 

No! We here at Friends In Need do NOT bill insurance companies. Each patient will pay an amount based our whatever percentage given on our sliding scale. 

Yes, we do make dentures and or partials. Discuss with your provider if you are eligible for dental prosthetics. 

Yes! We call all patients on our dental schedule two days in advance. Each patient is required to confirm there appointment. If you miss our call, you’ll have till the end of the day to call us back. Any unconfirmed appointment is canceled and provided to another patient. 

 

All medical patients will receive an automated reminder for an upcoming appointment. 

Our clinical hours are Monday – Thursday from 8AM to 5PM. We are closed daily for lunch from 12PM to 1PM. 

Please allow 1 – 2 weeks for an enrollment coordinator to contact you to get you enrolled. Once enrolled, allow about a week before a receptionist calls you to schedule your first new patient appointment. 

Our dental schedule is heavily booked! Our schedules are usually booked 3-4 months out. We do however get cancellations, so ask our receptionist to be added to our “sooner if possible” list to be called in sooner! 

If you were dismissed as a patient here at Friends In Need, it could be for the following reasons: 

  • Missed multiple appointments. Multiple cancellations or no shows. 
  • Failure to keep a hygiene appointment. All dental patients must maintain one cleaning yearly. 
  • Failure to keep examination appts. with your medical provider. 
  • Failure to re-enroll as a patient before deadline. 
  • Having dental insurance. Or high medical insurance.

    A patient who is dismissed, in most cases, can re-apply 6-months later.
